THE REGION
The Prosecco production area stretches across hills, plains and vineyard-covered slopes, some of which are very steep. The most prestigious area is that of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene, characterised by spectacular hills and vineyards that are often small in size. This landscape is not only unique in terms of its views, but is also essential for the production of high-quality grapes. The region is divided into various classifications, comprising larger areas intended for large-scale production and more historic zones renowned for wines of greater prestige
WEATHER & SOIL
The Terroir
The terroir of Prosecco is defined by the combination of climate, soil and the topography of the area. The climate is generally temperate, influenced by both the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. This results in a significant daily temperature range, which helps the grapes retain their freshness and aromas.
The soils vary between clayey, calcareous, morainic and sandy. In the hilly areas, the steep slopes improve sun exposure and drainage, contributing to more complex and elegant wines. These environmental factors determine the typical profile of Prosecco, characterised by floral and fruity notes.
